Who We Are
About EEUAE
The Eritrean Ethiopian Union for Academic Excellence (EEUAE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering first-generation Eritrean and Ethiopian students across the United States. Our mission is rooted in three enduring pillars: excellence, community, and cultural pride.
We exist for the students who are navigating higher education without a roadmap — students who are the first in their families to apply to college, write a personal statement, or sit across from a financial aid officer. We know that journey well, because many of us have walked it ourselves.
Through mentorship programs, academic resources, career development workshops, and cultural events, EEUAE provides the guidance, tools, and community that first-generation students need to thrive. Our publications platform shares stories, strategies, and insights authored by and for our community. Our competitions initiative connects students with real-world opportunities and sponsors who believe in their potential.
EEUAE is built and led by a passionate team of students, alumni, and professionals with Eritrean and Ethiopian roots. We are organizers, educators, and advocates who show up because we believe every student from our community deserves access to excellence — not in spite of where they come from, but because of it.
We are a federally registered nonprofit organization (EIN: 41-3257810) currently pursuing 501(c)(3) status. Everything we do is powered by volunteers and driven by the belief that when our community rises, we rise together.
